About Us

When the idea to venture into the world of garments arose, the tailoring community residing in the village

called Idar became the starting point. The House of Idar later evolved the inspiration into an inception of a title with a vision of becoming a blueprint for discerning, embracing, and establishing such artistic communities.

Idar can also have the literal meaning of 'here and now,' originating from Persian, or it can signify 'entry' or 'writing' in Hindi. These various meanings encapsulate the intention of bringing together diverse ideas, methods, and textiles to create a cohesive whole.

Each final garment is a result of meticulously curated raw materials that originate and evolve through local craftsmanship. The designs reflect the surroundings through vibrant colors, patterns, and styles, while the integral aim caters to the simple idea of creation in a holistic manner.

Idar's primary focus lies in celebrating different textiles, prints, and methods to foster their creation, all while bringing the observed and consumed stories to life, creating tangible personal experiences through their clothing.

The House of Idar, launched in 2019, takes its name from the village of Idar, situated 20 km away from Himmat Nagar, Gujarat, the home of Meena Prints – the parent company and leading textile manufacturer for over four decades.
